That's when I learned firsthand what it feels like to have a malfunctioning mind, and that's when I truly became a brain health advocate.

In private, I don't think many people celebrate failure, but failure, I posit, is actually pretty necessary for the folks truly in the long-term, for the smart and imaginative people truly trying to fulfill the mission that you give them at hand.

(Laughter) They both meant it, and there was some truth to each of their claims, because each side was grossly exaggerating the views of the other in order to fight their war.

Now that means that poverty leaves a really lasting scar, and it means that if we really want to ensure the success and well-being of the next generation, then tackling child poverty is an incredibly important thing to do.

If we really want to robot-proof our jobs, we, as leaders, need to get out of the mindset of telling people what to do and instead start asking them what problems they're inspired to solve and what talents they want to bring to work.

(Laughter) And so I didn't really get happy until 1960, because then we found out, basically, you know, that there are three forms of RNA.

(Laughter) And that kind of passion drove me into very serious play, a kind of play I could never do now because I'm too well-educated.

The best way to accomplish serious design -- which I think we all have the opportunity to do -- is to be totally and completely unqualified for the job.

So, while they became successful, I know how to make them, so I'm not a neophyte, and they're no longer serious -- they have become solemn.
